Today we received our client’s Study Permit Approval Letter. The application was submitted on July 24, 2026, and the approval came through in roughly three weeks.

This was not a straightforward study permit application.

Case Background

The client is a mature applicant who already holds a degree. With a profile like this, the work is not simply a matter of submitting the letter of acceptance and proof of funds. Several core questions have to be answered clearly:

• Why pursue further study in Canada when the applicant already holds a post-secondary qualification?
• Why continue studying at this particular stage of their life and career?
• Does the new program follow a coherent logic from the applicant’s past education and personal development?

On top of that, the preparation time available on this file was extremely tight.

How We Handled It

After taking on the file, we began by re-examining the client’s educational background, study history and the overall rationale for studying in Canada, then prepared documentation point by point against the issues most likely to draw an officer’s attention.

• Study Plan: rather than working from a template, we reorganised and refined the existing material around the client’s actual background, strengthening the reasoning behind this particular study choice and the plan as a whole.
• Letter of Explanation: written from the applicant’s specific circumstances, addressing the points that required further clarification directly.
• Supporting Documents: corroborating evidence assembled so that the application as a whole reads as complete and internally consistent.

The Result

Submitted July 24, 2026; approval letter received August 14, 2026.

To be clear, processing times are determined by IRCC on the facts of each case. Backgrounds differ and files are prepared to different standards; no firm can predict or promise how quickly a decision will come. What we can control is the quality of the preparation before filing.

In a study permit application, no single factor — the applicant’s age, an existing qualification, or a comparatively complex personal history — determines the outcome on its own. What matters is identifying the questions a file will raise before it is filed, and then presenting the applicant’s real circumstances clearly, through a sound strategy, a complete document set and targeted written submissions.

From the initial analysis, through the study plan, to the letter of explanation and the full document package, we work from each client’s actual situation rather than applying a template.

The more complex the case, the more thorough the preparation has to be.
