Alberta’s 2026 allocation rose to 6,603, with 2,043 spaces left as of August 25. Up to 10,000 federal spaces are available for practice-ready physicians and Francophones, and those nominations do not count against Alberta’s allocation — the French bar is NCLC 5 across all four abilities, yet only 12 have been issued all year.

Alberta has 6,403 provincial nominations for 2026, weighted toward health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture and Rural Renewal communities. An EOI has been mandatory since 2024 and now carries a $135 fee. Here is what to check before you apply.
